Michał Lipiński

Michał Lipiński is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship, under Herbert Edelsbrunner's research group. Previously, he held postdoctoral positions at the Dioscuri Centre in Topological Data Analysis (IMPAN, Warsaw) and was a research/teaching assistant at Jagiellonian University's Institute of Computer Sciences and Mathematics in Kraków. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2021) from Jagiellonian University, focusing on Morse-Conley-Forman theory, alongside degrees in Computational Mathematics, Cognitive Sciences, and Economics.

His research interests span combinatorial dynamical systems, topological data analysis, Conley-Morse persistence barcodes, and Morse predecomposition theory. He explores applications of topological methods to time series analysis and multivector fields. His work bridges computational topology with dynamical systems, emphasizing algorithmic and theoretical advancements.

Recent contributions include developing Conley-Morse persistence barcodes for dynamical systems analysis, connection matrix computations, and rigorous numerical methods for multivector fields. His peer-reviewed work appears in journals like SIAM, Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems, and Artificial Intelligence Reviews. He actively participates in academic talks and peer review for journals such as Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems and the Journal of Machine Learning Research.

Outside academia, Lipiński is a singer in the band Last Universal Common Ancestor, blending scientific rigor with artistic expression.
