Michał Borys

Dr. hab. Michał Borys serves as an Associate Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw's Faculty of Painting, where he has held continuous academic appointments since 1995. His current leadership roles include Head of Doctoral Studies (since 2016) and leader of the Drawing Studio for 2nd-5th year students, following his tenure as Vice-Dean of the Faculty (2012-2016).

Born in Warsaw in 1970, he completed his formal education at the Academy's Faculty of Painting from 1990 to 1995, graduating with distinction under Professor Zbigniew Gostomski.

Professor Borys's scholarly work centers on studio-based fine arts instruction, with deep expertise in painting techniques and drawing pedagogy. His career demonstrates sustained commitment to foundational artistic training across multiple educational levels, from first-year students to doctoral candidates.

As Head of Doctoral Studies since 2016, he oversees advanced research supervision while maintaining active studio leadership. His previous appointment as Vice-Dean (2012-2016) and concurrent role directing the Drawing Studio for first-year students since 2011 reflect significant institutional responsibilities. Earlier, he led the Drawing and Painting Studio at the Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology's Faculty of Media Art (2009-2012).
