Michaël Ménard is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS). Holding a Ph.D. from McGill University, he is based in office A-3316 and actively contributes to the LACIME – Communications and Microelectronic Integration Laboratory. His research focuses on integrated optics, silicon photonics, optical telecommunications, MEMS-based optical switching, and microfabrication.
- Education: B.Ing., Ph.D. (McGill University)
Research areas include nonlinear optics, optomechanics, and diffractive optics, with applications in telecommunications and photonic integrated circuits. His publications highlight expertise in silicon nitride photonics and optical system simulations.
Recent articles demonstrate trends in MEMS-actuated photonic switches, inverse-designed waveguide components, and multi-degree-of-freedom actuators. Collaborations with Frédéric Nabki and others emphasize hybrid electrothermal-electrostatic platforms and alignment solutions for photonic integrated circuits.
His work has resulted in multiple patents, including methods for wavelength-tunable optical components and MEMS-based packaging systems. As a member of LACIME, he drives innovation in microelectromechanical systems and photonic device optimization.
