Michalis Agathos is a Lecturer in Mathematics at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), affiliated with the Centre for Geometry, Analysis & Gravitation and the Gravitational Waves Initiative (GWI). His research focuses on gravitational wave physics, particularly testing general relativity and studying neutron star interiors using gravitational wave signals. He holds a visiting fellowship at the University of Cambridge’s KICC/DAMTP.
Education: PhD in Gravitational Wave Physics (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, 2016). Postdoctoral roles included a Rubicon Fellowship at Cambridge DAMTP and senior positions at TPI Jena. He is a long-term member of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration, Einstein Telescope Collaboration, and LISA Consortium.
Research Interests: Gravitational wave data analysis, neutron star binaries, modified gravity tests, and Bayesian inference techniques. His work bridges theoretical models, source modeling, and observational data to explore extreme astrophysical phenomena.
Collaborations and Roles: Active in international collaborations like LIGO, Virgo, and future missions (Einstein Telescope, LISA). His contributions include analyzing signals from black hole and neutron star mergers to probe fundamental physics.
