Michaela Steiger serves as a Lecturer in Acting and Role Development at the August Everding Theatre Academy since summer 2023. She maintains an active performance career across major German and Swiss theatres including Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, Schauspiel Köln, and Munich Kammerspiele.
Her professional training includes studies in New York with Susan Batson (Actors Studio) and Herbert Berghof, alongside training at HdK Berlin. Career milestones feature ensemble positions at Theater Basel, Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, Schaubühne Berlin, and Residenztheater Munich (2011-2016).
Her research and pedagogical focus centers on practical acting methodologies, role interpretation, and contemporary performance techniques. This expertise stems from collaborations with renowned directors including Thomas Ostermeier, Frank Castorf, and Barbara Frey across seminal productions like Greed (Sarah Kane), Dangerous Liaisons, and Journey to the End of the Night. Her teaching integrates decades of stage experience spanning classical and experimental theatre.
As an acting lecturer, she mentors students through embodied practice and role analysis, emphasizing the integration of theoretical frameworks with physical performance. Her current artistic work includes the Munich Kammerspiele production She Came from Mariupol (2024/25 season), demonstrating ongoing engagement with both academic instruction and professional practice.
