Michaela Schwarzbauer is an Associate Professor of Music Education at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, affiliated with the School of Music & Arts Education (SOMA) and the Institute for Equality & Gender Studies. She holds a doctorate (1988) and habilitation in music pedagogy. Her research focuses on polyesthetic education, integrating arts and interdisciplinary approaches to pedagogy. She has led major projects like the Sparkling Science initiatives (2013–2019), fostering collaboration between educators and students. Notable works include publications on Mozart, Eberhard Preußner, and the history of music education at the Mozarteum.
Her career includes roles as Senate spokesperson for mid-level faculty and head of the Equal Rights Working Group.
