Michael Weigold is a Professor of Advertising at the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC). He previously served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and Enrollment Management until stepping down in 2019. His academic roles include directing the Online Undergraduate program and contributing to strategic communication initiatives. Weigold's research focuses on online education strategies, advertising pedagogy, and health communication, particularly addressing health misinformation and public health campaigns. He has authored influential works on experiential learning in advertising and the integration of digital platforms in education. Notably, he was named a SEC Academic Leadership Development Fellow in 2015-16. His work spans academic leadership, scholarly publications, and media commentary on topics like self-identification in accountability contexts and the societal impact of online behavior (e.g., selfies and risk-taking).
