Michael Warren serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Florida, contributing to the Pound Lab's forensic casework since 1991. His field experience includes victim identification in mass disasters and documentation of war crimes against genocide victims in Bosnia, Serbia, and Kosovo.
Warren's research centers on forensic identification methodologies, skeletal trauma analysis (particularly rib and mandibular fractures in collaboration with Dr. David Daegling), human morphological variation, and environmental influences on body form. He co-authored an introductory forensic anthropology textbook and maintains active scholarly output through laboratory-focused pedagogy research.
His 2008-2012 publications reveal consistent specialization in forensic anthropology, with emphasis on trauma mechanics, cremated remains analysis, and laboratory quality assurance systems. These works demonstrate practical applications bridging academic research with real-world forensic investigations and disaster response protocols.
Warren operates within the Pound Lab framework at the University of Florida, which serves as both a research hub for skeletal trauma studies and an operational unit for forensic casework involving mass fatality incidents and international humanitarian investigations.
