Michael Upton

Michael Upton is Head of Teaching and Learning Development at London Metropolitan University's Centre for Teaching Enhancement. He leads initiatives addressing generative AI in education, student retention strategies, and academic mentorship programs. His work bridges pedagogical innovation with creative arts disciplines.

Education: BA Drama & Theatre Studies (University of London), MA Film & Video Production (Middlesex University), Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (London Guildhall University).

Research focuses on East End cultural history and creative pedagogy. Notable projects include the Shadows of Doubt Hitchcock study and Thames Estuary photography collaborations. Exhibited in Making Matters 2.0 and contributed to the East End Archive book project.
