Michael Trabjerg

Michael Trabjerg is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, part of the Faculty of Medicine at Aalborg University. His academic work focuses on the intersection of lipid metabolism and neurodegenerative diseases using in vivo models.

His research primarily investigates the role of Carnitine Palmitoyltransferase I (CPT1) in central nervous system disorders such as Parkinson's disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and Multiple Sclerosis. His studies employ mouse models to explore how metabolic dysregulation contributes to disease progression and potential therapeutic interventions.

From 2017 to 2020, he led a project titled The role of lipid metabolism in central nervous system diseases: evidence from toxic- and transgenic in vivo models, which provided experimental data linking CPT1 inhibition to neurodegenerative disease mechanisms.
