Michael T. Lin is an Associate Professor of Neuroscience at the Brain and Mind Research Institute and Associate Professor of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College, positions he has held since 2012. His academic background includes an A.B. from Harvard University (1988) and an M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (1992).
Dr. Lin's research focuses on molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, with emphasis on:
- Alzheimer's disease pathology and amyloid processing
- Mitochondrial dysfunction in Parkinson's disease
- Synaptic plasticity and ion channel regulation
- Therapeutic strategies for neuroprotection
- Clinical biomarkers for prodromal neurodegeneration
His publication record reveals consistent focus on Alzheimer's pathogenesis (amyloid dynamics, synaptic impairment), Parkinson's disease (mitochondrial DNA mutations), and neurotherapeutic development. Recent clinical work explores neurodevelopmental diversity and non-cognitive biomarkers in neurodegeneration.
Current research support includes a 2023-2028 NIH/NIA grant as Principal Investigator for Longitudinal Follow up of Clinical Trial Participants For Brain Donation. No advising relationships or scientific awards are documented.
