Michael Stubbs is a researcher and PhD supervisor at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), focusing on contemporary painting practices that intersect material abstraction, digital culture, and philosophical frameworks. Since completing his PhD in 2003, he has developed a critical practice that combines historical art tropes with digital ontologies, exploring the tension between physical materiality and virtual disembodiment in painting.
