Dr. Michael Sinclair is an Associate Professor in the MSW Department at Morgan State University's School of Social Work. With over 20 years of social work experience, his career includes roles as a Clinical Social Worker for Virginia's Department of Correction, a school social worker, and director of Rutgers University's Project SEARCH. He holds a PhD from Norfolk State University, an MSSW from Columbia University, and a BA from SUNY College at Old Westbury.
His research focuses on pressing urban social issues, including:
- Urban Child Welfare: Strategies to support vulnerable youth in city environments
- Returning Citizens: Reintegration challenges for formerly incarcerated individuals
Sinclair's recent publications (2015-2017) analyze systemic inequalities in urban settings, with recurring themes of:
- Community policing reforms in Baltimore
- Racial disparities in law enforcement
