Dr. Michael Scott is the Head of Computing and Associate Professor of Computer Science Education at Falmouth University, leading innovative programs in Computing for Games and Immersive Computing. His research focuses on game-based learning, immersive education, and accessible interfaces. He has received awards such as the UCISA Leadership Award (2023) and the Falmouth University 'Doing it for Real' Award (2020). Scott holds a PhD in Information Systems and Computing from Brunel University London, alongside MA and BSc degrees in Computer Science and Digital Games Theory.
Research interests include procedural game design, educational technology, and software psychology. He has secured grants from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Innovate UK, and the Coastal Communities Fund. Current projects involve leveraging immersive technologies in museums and heritage sites, such as the Augmented Telegrapher project.
Scott has supervised numerous students, including Alexander Mitchell and Lucy Stent, and serves on committees for ACM conferences like SIGCSE and ITiCSE. His work bridges game development with educational innovation, emphasizing collaboration and equity through initiatives like Global Game Jams and peer evaluation frameworks.
