Michael Scott Raines

Michael Scott Raines is a Lecturer in English at The University of Texas at Arlington. He holds a PhD in English Literature from the University of Mississippi (2006), an MA in English and Theater from Rhode Island College (1990), and a BA from Millsaps College (1986). His research applies DeafLens theory to literary analysis, with teaching interests in critical thinking and modern poetry/drama.

Awards include the Larry Huff Teaching Award (2022). Creative work features choir performances with Turtle Creek Chorale, including a 2022 Carnegie Hall presentation. Service includes membership in the Modern Language Association (1999-2024) and Turtle Creek Chorale (1996-present).
