Michael Safaric Branthwaite

Michael Safaric Branthwaite is an Associate Professor and Course Director for Visual Art at Staffordshire University, holding an MA and BA in Fine Art. His practice-based research examines the intersection of digital technologies, historical memory, and conflicted heritage sites, particularly Holocaust locations.

His artistic research investigates digital surrogacy, material authenticity, and the ethics of representing traumatic histories through installations and exhibitions at sites including Treblinka, Westerbork, and Falstad. Collaborative projects with archaeologists explore forensic evidence interpretation and public engagement with difficult heritage.
