Michael Rafferty

Michael Rafferty, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Psychiatry Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He has been on faculty since 2007 and currently serves as a consultation liaison psychiatrist at William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital. Previously, he was Medical Director of the MH Consultation-Liaison Team at the VA North Texas Health Care System. He holds ABPN Diplomate certifications in General Psychiatry (2007) and Psychosomatic Medicine (2009). Dr. Rafferty is also the president of the North Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.

Education:

• Medical School: University of Minnesota Medical School (1998–2002)
• Psychiatry Residency: University of Minnesota Medical School, Department of Psychiatry (2002–2006)
• Harold Lawn Research Fellowship (2005–2006): Focused on borderline personality disorder.

Research & Education: His work emphasizes consultation-liaison psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and medical education. He has trained medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows in addiction psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry.

Professional Leadership: Leads educational and clinical initiatives, combining clinical practice with academic contributions in psychiatric education and patient care.
