Michael Phomsoupha is a Lecturer and researcher at the Catholic University of Western Brittany-South (UCO-BS), affiliated with the APCoSS research team and the Institute for Training in Physical and Sports Education (IFEPSA). He holds dual roles as Head of the STAPS Department and Educational Manager for Years 2 and 3 degrees. His research focuses on optimizing sports performance and injury prevention in badminton, leveraging biomechanics, physiology, and technology.
Education: Ph.D. in Sports and Human Movement Sciences (2016, Paris-Saclay University), Master's in Physical Education and Sports Teacher Training (2013, University of Paris-Sud), and certified Physical Education Teacher (2013).
Research highlights include developing injury prevention warm-up programs, analyzing racket mechanics, and evaluating athlete performance through motion sensors. He has authored/co-authored over 14 peer-reviewed articles and received awards from the French Badminton Federation and the Society of Biomechanics.
Administrative roles include managing the École Doctorale 456 website and representing doctoral students in the CIAMS laboratory. He supervises a CIFRE thesis on extended reality (XR) for skill learning in sports and healthcare.
