معرفی
Michael Overholtzer is a Professor at the Graduate School of Medical Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine, with a research focus in the Department of Cell & Developmental Biology. His laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the transformation of normal cells into tumor cells, with a particular emphasis on epithelial cell biology and the phenomenon of entosis.
His research interests include Cancer Biology, Cell Signaling and Signal Transduction, and Stem Cells. Entosis, a process his lab discovered, involves one cell invading another to form cell-in-cell structures, ultimately leading to cell death, and is being explored as a novel tumor suppression mechanism.
Dr. Overholtzer is affiliated with the tri-institutional academic programs involving Weill Cornell Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Rockefeller University, particularly through the Cell & Developmental Biology PhD program.
He leads an active research laboratory focused on fundamental cancer cell biology and cell death pathways, contributing to the broader understanding of tumor development and potential therapeutic strategies.
