معرفی
Michael Nash is a tenured Associate Professor with joint appointments at ETH Zurich (Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering) and University of Basel (Department of Physical Chemistry). His research laboratory develops molecular therapeutic and diagnostic technologies through interdisciplinary approaches combining nanobiotechnology, bioengineering, and physical chemistry.
Education:
- BS in Cybernetics of Biomedical Systems, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
- PhD in Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, University of Washington, Seattle
Research Focus: His work centers on protein engineering, directed evolution, single-molecule biophysics, and synthetic-biological interfaces. The lab employs cutting-edge techniques from nanotechnology and biophysics to create innovative biomedical solutions, particularly focusing on molecular-level interactions and engineered biological systems.
Awards and Honors:
- Prestigious ERC Starting & Consolidator Grants
- Human Frontier Science Program Young Investigator
- Multiple fellowships including NSF, Alexander von Humboldt, and Branco Weiss
- University of Basel Teaching Excellence Award (2023) for foundational chemistry lectures
Grants and Recognition: Secured significant competitive funding including dual European Research Council grants. Recognized internationally through research fellowships from major scientific organizations across Europe and the United States.
Laboratory: Directs an interdisciplinary research group at ETH Zurich's Basel campus focusing on protein engineering, molecular diagnostics, and biophysical characterization of synthetic biological systems.
