Michael Mike A. Saville

Dr. Michael Mike A. Saville is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He previously served as Associate Professor and Chair of Electrical Engineering at Wright State University. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, an M.S.E.E. from AFIT, and a B.S.E.E. from Texas A&M University with honors.

His research spans synthetic aperture radar (SAR), signal processing, electromagnetics, and computational methods for feature extraction. He has led projects in radar-based sensor technologies for national defense and intelligence applications.

The recent publications reflect a strong trend in hybrid signal processing and machine learning applied to radar systems, particularly in SAR-ATR, THz imaging, and MIMO radar. His work integrates advanced computational techniques with physical modeling to enhance radar performance and data interpretation.

He has collaborated with the Air Force Research Lab and national agencies.

His lab conducts empirical experiments in controlled environments, develops high-frequency imaging systems, and promotes STEM education through radar demonstrators. The team explores THz imaging, plasma diagnostics, and autonomous system perception.
