معرفی
Michael McNeil Forbes is an Associate Professor of Physics at Washington State University (WSU), affiliated with the Department of Physics and Astronomy under the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on many-body theory, fermionic systems, dark matter, computational physics, and quantum dynamics. He explores phenomena ranging from cold atom experiments to neutron star interiors, with applications in astrophysics and cosmology.
He collaborates with experimentalists to design cold atom systems for observing novel phases like fermionic supersolids. His work bridges DFT techniques with supercomputing, addressing challenges in neutron star dynamics and glitch mechanisms. He also investigates dark matter via quark nuggets and their galactic radiation signatures.
His team uses WSU's Kamiak HPC cluster for large-scale simulations, particularly in modeling superfluid dynamics and quantum turbulence. Students in his group work on diverse topics including neutron star rotation, gravitational wave analysis, and vortex-nucleus interactions.
