Michael Liu Sohn is a full-time Lecturer in English and Faculty Development Coordinator at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus. He holds a B.A. in General Studies in Humanities and French from the University of Chicago, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in French Literature from New York University. His research focuses on 20th-century French poetry’s engagement with visual arts, spatial poetry, and text-image relationships.
Dr. Sohn has taught composition courses (English 13, 14, 16, etc.) and participated in initiatives like the Writing Across the Curriculum Program. He coordinates faculty development sessions and collaborates with the Writing Program on curriculum development. His pedagogical expertise includes student-centered and process-oriented approaches acquired through NYU’s Expository Writing Program.
Publications explore André du Bouchet’s work in relation to Mallarmé and intermedial practices. His career spans over two decades at LIU, blending teaching, administrative roles, and scholarly contributions to French literary studies.
