Michael Light

Michael Light is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Purdue University, with research focused on criminology, the sociology of law and punishment, inequality, and immigration.

His work explores citizenship as a mechanism of legal inequality across Western societies, the intersection of racial/ethnic stratification with criminal offending, and the health impacts of the Great Recession. Research findings have been published in journals such as American Sociological Review, Law & Society Review, Social Forces, and American Journal of Public Health.
