Michael Lavery is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Russian at the University of Maryland's School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Recent publications include co-authored textbooks like Beginner’s Russian (2022) and V puti: Russian Grammar in Context (2025), as well as translations and reference articles in The Literary Encyclopedia.
