Michael L. Poirier Elliott is an Associate Professor jointly appointed in the Schools of City and Regional Planning and Public Policy at Georgia Institute of Technology's College of Design. He serves as Director of the Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) Program. He co-founded and co-directed the Consortium on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution and the Southeast Negotiation Network.
His research focuses on environmental dispute dynamics, climate resilience strategies for urban poor communities in South Asia, and conflict management in public policymaking. He has led 37 research projects as Principal Investigator and 13 as Co-Principal Investigator. Internationally, he has provided dispute resolution consultancy in Estonia, Israel, Nicaragua, Kazakhstan, and Germany.
Elliott has conducted over 50 professional training workshops in public policy collaboration and conflict management. His work emphasizes risk perception analysis, conflict assessment frameworks, and strategies for managing complex multi-party disputes.
