Assoc. Professor Michael Kirchhoff is an Associate Professor in the School of Liberal Arts at the University of Wollongong. His research focuses on the philosophy of mind, cognitive science, metaphysics, and theoretical biology, with a particular emphasis on the free energy principle, predictive processing, and the extended mind hypothesis.
- Ph.D. in Philosophy from Macquarie University (2010-2013)
- Master of Arts (Research) in Philosophy from Aarhus University (2006-2008)
- Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Aarhus University (2003-2006)
Research Interests: Naturalistic philosophy of mind, Bayesian brain hypothesis, free energy principle, consciousness, and philosophy of science. He critiques mechanistic explanation and explores predictive processing's role in cognitive systems.
