Michael K.T. Tan holds multiple roles at Yale Law School, including Visiting Clinical Lecturer in Law, Clinical Lecturer in Law, and Associate Research Scholar in Law. He serves as Executive Director of The Movement Project, an initiative addressing migration laws, climate change, and labor justice. Previously, he worked at the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project as Deputy Director and held fellowships including the Yale Liman Fellowship and Skadden Fellowship. He also served as Senior Advisor to Community Change, empowering low-income communities.
Education: J.D. from Yale Law School (2008), M.A. in Comparative Literature from NYU (2006), B.A. from Harvard College (2001). He clerked for Judge M. Margaret McKeown of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Research focuses on labor migration, climate justice, and policy frameworks for systemic change. His work intersects legal advocacy with grassroots movements, emphasizing equity and humanitarian goals.
