Michael-John Milloy

Michael-John Milloy is an Associate Professor in the Division of Social Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on substance use disorder, HIV disease, overdose, and medical cannabis, with an emphasis on psychosocial, sociocultural, and behavioral determinants of health.

His research interests center on the intersection of infectious diseases and substance use, particularly:

• Substance use disorder and its comorbidities
• HIV disease among people who use drugs
• Overdose prevention and response strategies
• Therapeutic applications of medical cannabis
• Clinical sciences in addiction medicine

Dr. Milloy is affiliated with the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use and actively engages in interdisciplinary research. He is available for collaborations on research clusters and grants, and expresses specific interest in supervising both graduate students in Experimental Medicine and Population and Public Health programs and undergraduate researchers on substance use-related projects.
