Michael J. Ziller

Michael J. Ziller is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Münster, affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. He leads the Lab for Functional Genomics in Psychiatry and participates in the "Cells in Motion" research commission.

• Research Focus: Functional genomics, molecular mechanisms of psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder), and computational strategies for personalized medicine.
• Projects: Decoding polygenic risk architectures, modeling neuronal hyperexcitability, and developing machine learning methods for patient stratification.
• Funding: BMBF (Project DINGS), EKFS Schlüsselproject.

The lab utilizes iPSC models, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, HiC, single-cell RNA-Seq, and Perturb-Seq to bridge genetic associations with neurobiological insights, aiming to identify drug targets and optimize treatment for psychiatric diseases.
