Michael J. A. Hore

Michael J. A. Hore is a Warren E. Rupp Associate Professor in the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University’s Case School of Engineering. His research integrates experiments, theory, and simulation to study polymer physics, particularly focusing on grafted and non-linear polymers. He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (2012), an MS in Physics from the University of Memphis (2007), and a BS in Physics and Mathematical Sciences from the same institution (2005).

His research interests include polymer nanocomposites, thermoresponsive materials, neutron scattering, and polymer field theory. He has contributed to advancements in biomaterials design, nanoparticle dynamics, and soft matter physics. His work often explores applications in biomedical imaging, drug delivery, and advanced nanotechnology.

Awards include the ACS PMSE Young Investigator Award (2018), the Srinivasa P. Gutti Memorial Teaching Award (2018), and an NSF CAREER Award (2016). He previously served as a Physicist/NRC Postdoctoral Associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (2012–2014). His research is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and other institutions.
