Michael Hillgaertner

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Hillgaertner is a faculty member at Aachen University of Applied Sciences, heading the Department of Vehicle Electronics and EMC within the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. He focuses on teaching and research in automotive electronics, with a particular emphasis on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for electric vehicles.

Research Focus:

• Development of EMC testing infrastructure for vehicle electrical systems and entire vehicles
• Collaboration with the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) to acquire advanced measurement equipment
• Leadership in TEMPEST and EMC training programs for international participants

Labs & Facilities:

• Overseeing construction of a CISPR 25-compliant EMC hall for vehicle testing
• Implementation of a reverberation chamber for comprehensive EMC analysis
• Integration of passive roller dynamometers for testing moving vehicles
