Michael Greaney

Michael Greaney is a Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Manchester, currently leading the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Integrated Catalysis (iCAT). He holds a MChem from Oxford University and a PhD from University College London (2000), followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on developing new catalytic methods for efficient and sustainable chemical synthesis, with key themes including metal-free arylation strategies, transition metal-catalyzed C-H activation, and chemicobiological catalysis.

Major contributions include innovations in arylation reactions, biaryl synthesis, and green chemistry approaches. He has received the RSC Bader Award (2017) and contributed to industrial biotechnology advancements through enzyme engineering and scalable chemical manufacturing. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to environmental protection and sustainable industry.
