Michael Galczynski is a Lecturer in the Keystone Program at the A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland. He concurrently pursues a Ph.D. in Teaching, Learning, Policy and Leadership (TLPL) in the College of Education. His background in civil engineering complements his teaching of diverse engineering courses both domestically and internationally. He has led courses such as ENES 100, ENES 102, and ENME 407, focusing on sustainability and climate change. He has organized study-abroad programs to Iceland, Australia, Czech Republic, Italy, and Greece, integrating global perspectives into engineering education.
Research interests include innovative pedagogical strategies, sustainability in engineering curricula, and international education collaboration. His work was recognized with a top prize at the 2022 Capstone Design Expo. Beyond academia, he maintains a YouTube channel sharing lectures, travel guides, and baking tutorials, reflecting his passions for education, travel, and culinary arts.
Galczynski’s travel experiences inform his teaching, with fieldwork in locations like Venice, Sydney, and Athens. He actively promotes interdisciplinary learning through cross-cultural engineering projects and has adapted curricula during the pandemic to enhance student collaboration.
