Michael Fogler is Professor of Physics at UC San Diego, specializing in theoretical condensed matter physics. His research explores interacting electrons in low-dimensional and nanoscale structures, including graphene, 2D crystals, plasmonics, and excitonic systems. He has made significant contributions to understanding plasmon reflections, hyperbolic polaritons, and quantum transport phenomena in novel materials. His collaborative work with experimental groups has advanced nano-optical imaging techniques for studying Dirac fluids and topological materials.
Honors include Sloan Fellowship (2003) and APS Fellowship (2018). He currently advises multiple graduate students and has supervised numerous PhD graduates now working in academia and industry.
