Michael Fischer

Michael M.J. Fischer is Andrew W. Mellon Professor in Humanities and Professor of Anthropology at MIT. As Visiting Professor at NUS (2013), his interdisciplinary work spans anthropology of science, biomedical technologies, media circuits, and religion. Research includes ethnographic studies in Iran, India, Jamaica, and Singapore.

Publications analyze science-society interfaces, including 'Anthropological Futures' and 'Emergent Forms of Life'. Current projects examine Singapore's biomedical research ecosystems and post-election protest movements. His methodologies combine ethnographic fieldwork with critical analysis of transnational media networks.
