Dr. Michael F. Beers is the Mayock-Cooper Professor of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, where he has served as a faculty member since 1993 and received tenure in 2001. He is actively involved in clinical care, education, and community health initiatives, particularly focused on health disparities and immigrant populations in Philadelphia.
His research and clinical work center on healthcare access and delivery, with a strong emphasis on immigrant health, particularly among West African communities. As Faculty Moderator and Medical Director of the United Community Clinic (UCC), a student-run clinic in West Philadelphia, he leads efforts to improve care for underserved populations through partnerships with the African Family Health Organization (AFAHO).
