Michael Engelmann

Michael Engelmann is a Researcher at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (FB 6) in Bocholt. He has been with the institution since October 2003, serving in roles such as course coordination, IT infrastructure management, and examination planning. Engelmann holds a Master’s degree in Distributed Systems from the same university, complementing his dual study background in Economic Informatics from Berufsakademie Mannheim and Roche Diagnostics GmbH.

His teaching focuses on foundational programming, algorithms, embedded robotics, and ROS2-based robot programming. Key research initiatives include the Ruhr-TurtleBot-Competition, a robotics challenge using TurtleBot3 platforms to introduce participants to ROS environments, presented at the ROSCon DE 2024 conference in Karlsruhe.

Engelmann oversees administrative tasks for the faculty’s online presence and coordinates technical infrastructure. His expertise bridges academic instruction with practical applications in robotics and distributed systems.
