Michael E Davies

Michael Davies is Professor and Director of Research at the University of Edinburgh's School of Engineering, holding the Jeffrey Collins Chair in Signal and Image Processing. He leads research in computational imaging, compressed sensing, and machine learning systems, with over £30M in research funding. Formerly head of the University Defence Research Collaboration (2013-2024).

Research focuses on developing theoretical frameworks for machine imaging with limited ground truth data, data-driven computational sensing, and sensor fusion technologies. Current projects include the Centre for Doctoral Training in Sensing, Processing, and AI for Defence and Security (SPADS).

Awards include:
