Professor Michael Dudok de Wit is a Visiting Professor at the School of Digital Arts (SODA), Manchester Metropolitan University. Born in 1953 in the Netherlands, he trained in etching and animation, and has created acclaimed animated films including Father and Daughter (Oscar-winning) and the feature film The Red Turtle (co-produced by Studio Ghibli). His work spans short films, commercials, and book illustration, with awards spanning Oscars, BAFTAs, and Cannes honors.
Education: Studied etching in Geneva and animation at Farnham, England.
Research interests focus on animation techniques, visual storytelling, and the intersection of art and film. He teaches masterclasses globally and has directed/animated award-winning commercials and films since the 1980s.
