معرفی
Dr. Michael De Ieso is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Adelaide's Adelaide Medical School, part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He is affiliated with the Dame Roma Mitchell Cancer Research Laboratories and focuses on hormone receptor-positive cancers (breast, prostate, bladder) and previously explored aquaporin modulation in cancer and caveolin-1 in glaucoma. He earned his PhD in cancer biology from the University of Adelaide in 2019, followed by postdoc training at Duke University. Recently returned to Adelaide in 2023 with awards like the Mary Overton Fellowship (2024-2026; $321,247) and the Adelaide Medical School Building Research Leaders Award (2024; $100,000).
Education:
- PhD in Cancer Biology, University of Adelaide (2019)
- Postdoctoral Training at Duke University (2019-2023)
Research Interests: His work spans cancer biology, targeting hormone receptor-positive cancers (e.g., prostate and bladder), and exploring novel therapies. Previously, he investigated aquaporin channels' role in cancer cell migration and caveolin-1's role in glaucoma pathophysiology. Current research emphasizes mechanotransduction in ocular diseases and therapeutic strategies for solid tumors.
Scientific Awards:
- Mary Overton & RAH Early Career Fellowship (2024-2026)
- Adelaide Medical School Building Research Leaders Award (2024)
Advising & Grants: Eligible to co-supervise PhD and Master's students. His grants include funding for investigating androgen receptor targeting in prostate/bladder cancers. During his postdoc at Duke, he managed biotechnology contracts and secured research projects like the CAV1/2 gene locus study.
Labs/Teams: Part of the Dame Roma Mitchell Cancer Research Laboratories under Prof. Wayne Tilley (Director), Assoc. Prof. Theresa Hickey (Head of Breast Cancer), and Dr. Amy Dwyer (Solid Tumour Biology Group Leader).
