Michael Clayville (he/him) is an Instructor of Music in Entrepreneurial Studies and Social Engagement at Lawrence University's Conservatory of Music. He is a trombonist, educator, and cofounder of Alarm Will Sound, a contemporary music ensemble recognized with the ASCAP Concert Music Award for championing 21st-century repertory.
- Active globally as a soloist, chamber musician, and improviser
- Collaborated with composers like Tyshawn Sorey, Steve Reich, and John Adams
- Developed FlowFrame, a practice-tracking app for musicians
- Graduate of Rice University and Eastman School of Music
His work extends beyond traditional concert halls through interdisciplinary collaborations incorporating movement, lighting, and video. Clayville previously served on brass faculties at Dickinson and Messiah Colleges.
