Michael Buchert, MPS, is a core faculty member at Antioch University Seattle's School of Applied Psychology, Counseling and Family Therapy. He holds a Master of Professional Studies in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute and a BA in English (screenwriting) from the University of Florida. His work bridges creative expression with therapeutic practice.
Research and Teaching Focus: Buchert employs an interdisciplinary approach in creative arts therapy, integrating visual art, movement, film/video, poetry, music, and drama techniques to foster personal transformation and creative freedom. He specializes in clinical mental health counseling, with experience in after-school arts programs, inpatient hospitals, and forensic community mental health settings.
Current Projects: He is developing a workshop series exploring ancient gender archetypes through art-making and play, targeting the modern man's psychological journey. His teaching philosophy emphasizes person-centered, meaningful contact as a catalyst for healing.
