Michael Blank is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Stanford Graduate School of Business and Faculty Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. He holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University (2024) and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Dartmouth College (2016). Previously, he worked as a Research Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
His research examines labor market dynamics, credit cycles, and financial regulation using causal inference methods. Key interests include how credit conditions affect employment and how job destruction impacts worker outcomes during economic downturns.
His publications focus on finance-economics intersections, particularly how firm-level financial decisions aggregate to macroeconomic outcomes. Recent work analyzes investor behavior during market volatility and regulatory responses to banking crises.
He teaches FINANCE 205: Accelerated Managerial Finance and maintains an active research agenda on financial acceleration mechanisms in labor markets.
