Michael Best

Michael Best is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at North Carolina State University. Born and raised on a farm in Kentucky, he holds a BS in agribusiness from Berea College, an MS from the University of Tennessee, and a PhD from the University of Kentucky. With 27 years of experience, he has taught courses in agriculture and food systems while authoring over 100 feasibility studies for Southeastern agribusinesses.

His research focuses on agricultural economics, market policies, and sustainable farm business models. Current projects examine commodity pricing structures and localized food systems.
