Michael B. Dennin

Professor Michael B. Dennin is a faculty member in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), where he also serves as Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Education and Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning. His research focuses on systems with emergent properties, including complex fluids and biological systems.

Research Interests: Experimental condensed matter physics, Langmuir monolayers, biologically relevant networks, and instructional technology. His lab investigates lipid domain organization, protein-membrane interactions, and effective temperature in non-equilibrium systems.

Scientific Awards include the American Physical Society Fellowship (2021), UCI Senate Distinguished Mid-Career Award (2011-2012), and multiple teaching and research honors dating back to 1999.

Professor Dennin is renowned for public science outreach and online courses on the nature of science. Collaborations with biology and chemistry faculty highlight interdisciplinary aspects of his work.
