Michael A. Armato, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Department of Government, Public Service & Health at Albright College. He also serves as Pre-Law Advisor and Director of the Public Policy and Administration Program and Legal Studies Program. Armato holds degrees from the University at Albany, SUNY (Ph.D., M.A.) and Wagner College (B.A.).
His research focuses on urban politics, New York politics, civic engagement, and political pedagogy. Notable publications include studies on Liberal Party activism in the Hudson River Valley and analyses of mayoral civic activities. He has presented at conferences such as the Northeastern Political Science Association and New York State Political Science Association.
Armato has been honored with the Dr. Henry P. and M. Paige Laughlin Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching (2019). His professional roles include Secretary of the New York State Political Science Association (2020–present) and leadership in state and local politics sections.
He teaches courses like American Government, Public Policy, and Urban Politics. His work bridges practical political experience with academic scholarship, emphasizing policy analysis and civic education.
