Michael A. Ackers

Michael A. Ackers is a former researcher in the Department of Microstructure Physics and Alloy Design at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany. His work focuses on materials science, particularly alloys for additive manufacturing and the materials science of additive manufacturing processes. He holds a Master's degree (2013-2016) and Bachelor's degree (2011-2015) from Ruhr-Universität Bochum, where his Master's thesis addressed optimizing a metal powder atomization system for additive manufacturing applications, and his Bachelor's thesis compared retained austenite determination methods in gear wheels using EBSD and XRD.

He conducted temporary research at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council in Rosario, Argentina (2014–2014), under a PROMOS scholarship, investigating an aluminum alloy and high-manganese steel through experimental and computational methods. His research interests span alloy design, microstructure characterization, and the development of materials for advanced manufacturing technologies.
