Micah Long

Micah Long, MD is an Associate Professor (CHS) in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He serves as Division Chief of Critical Care Anesthesiology and Associate Fellowship Director for Critical Care Anesthesiology at UW Health. Dr. Long specializes in critical care and provides clinical services in operating rooms, the Trauma and Life Support Center (TLC), and other intensive care units at University Hospital.

Dr. Long’s research and clinical focus centers on critical care anesthesiology, particularly the management of shock and the use of point-of-care ultrasonography and echocardiography to address heart and lung dysfunction. He is deeply committed to medical education, directing the critical care anesthesiology fellowship program, developing simulation curricula, and lecturing nationally on acute patient care. His work emphasizes training future physicians to manage crisis situations with expertise.

As an affiliate faculty member in the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Long contributes to cross-departmental collaboration. His clinical practice and teaching align with the University of Wisconsin’s mission to promote inclusive, patient-centered care and address health disparities through social impact initiatives.
