Dr Micaela Gal is the Knowledge Mobilisation and Impact Lead at the Health and Care Research Wales Evidence Centre (since March 2023) and previously at the Wales COVID-9 Evidence Centre (2021–2023). She holds a DPhil in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Microbiology (First Class) from Cardiff University.

Her research focuses on knowledge mobilisation for healthcare policy, rapid evidence reviews during public health emergencies, and diagnostic innovation in primary care. Key themes include:

- Antimicrobial stewardship and point-of-care testing
- Clinical research in community and NHS settings
Recent publications highlight her leadership in Wales COVID-19 Evidence Centre initiatives, including stakeholder-driven policy frameworks and evaluations of disinfection strategies for SARS-CoV-2. Her work spans collaborations with Welsh Government, clinicians, industry partners, and European research networks.
